Margaret is a stranger I met down my local beach. She was about to go in the sea and still had the film on her goggles - a common error apparently - not that you’d be able to see with too much clarity anyway in welsh waters.
As wonderful a subject as Margaret is, I’d be lying if I said I was 100% happy with the final outcome. Although it captures something in the person, and I liked the way I painted her expression, no matter how much vibrant paint I added, the painting stayed somewhat muted in my mind. It feels like a sombre painting for a greyish day.
